BAU 2019 Trade Fair Munich - Edgetech presents the Super Spacer® spacer system
Aesthetical or functional? A spacer must meet both objectives when inserted into a demanding glass facade. Under the motto of "Always present in prestigious buildings", Edgetech will be demonstrating the versatility of its Super Spacer® warm edge spacer system in state-of-the-art glass architecture at the BAU 2019 Trade Fair, Hall C3, Stand 208.
The question of "warm edge - yes or no?" plays a key part when choosing a spacer. In addition to the technical functional principle and their energy saving performance, spacers also differ in terms of their aesthetical impact. The visible side of a spacer is typically uniformly matt and is non-reflective. As soon as the insulating glass unit is inserted into the frame, Super Spacer® completely disappears out of view as the frame colour is reflected in the glass. Thanks to these properties, curved and flat glass units can also be installed harmoniously next to one another."
Super Spacer® spacers provide important features for the simple manual processing of free forms and curved glass panes, and make a key contribution towards an aesthetically flawless final result. Thanks to the low sightline, Super Spacer® spacers can also be used with narrow frame profiles and low glass insets. The flexible material additionally facilitates perfect mitring at the corners.
Flexible spacers are also subjected to the weather-related pumping movements of the glazing and always return to their original position, thus minimising the tensions in the edge compound, and in particular at the seals. A small but important detail, especially in terms of its appearance. Due to the fact curved glass panes are usually installed next to flat glass panes, naturally no differences in the processing should be visible.
Today, triple glazing is, in most cases, standard when it comes to creating energy-efficient building envelopes. The warm edge spacer, which significantly reduces thermal bridges at the glass edge seal and thus heat loss, is also a comparatively young product. "Now 30 years old, our Super Spacer® spacer system is one of the pioneers and one of the most tried and tested warm edge systems," explains Joachim Stoss, "and despite the warm edge being so lightweight in terms of the overall volume of the construction, it is more important than ever for insulating glazing, if you want to reach ambitious energy efficiency goals."
